• Hiking the Enchantments

Once you reach the summit, the Core Enchantments sprawl out before you. The beauty is enough to make you forget your recent climb. A stark landscape comprised of pristine alpine lakes surrounded by striking peaks and granite greet wary hikers. It was here near the top, that Nick and I settled ourselves along the banks of an upper basin lake and took a well deserved break.

  • Ptarmigan Ridge Trail

The next morning we headed toward the trail junction for Ptarmigan Ridge with bugs and snow at the forefront of our minds. As we got closer to the ridge we could only make out the barest of trails and endless snowfields. Lets just say at this point we were far from optimistic, but as fate would have it we would soon meet someone on the trail that would reignite our sense of hope and adventure.

  • Kanarra Creek Falls

Reminiscent of the acclaimed Narrows in neighboring Zion National Park, this less touristy creek dazzles visitors with it's own beauty and towering walls.

  • Zebra Slot Canyon

Zebra slot canyon is a very short slot known for it's unique undulated stripped walls. While the very photogenic section at the end of the slot is well worth the effort, we found the journey to get there to be a bit challenging and waterlogged.

  • Needles District

We decided to take a counterclockwise approach while exploring Chesler Park following signs toward Devils Kitchen. Our main goals for the day included exploring Joint Trail as well as Druid Arch. However, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the modified loop we took through Chesler Park ended up being a trip highlight in itself.
